You can participate in documenting the state of the marine environment.
For example, the next time you are near a reef, make notes on its general
state using criteria like:
1) Diversity of fish species and overall quality of fish populations.
2) Water color and nutrient levels.
3) General appearance of coral.
4) Percentage of coral coverage in an area.
5) Amount of algal growth on reef.
6) Density of sea urchins.
