• MDAG Commitments
  1) to document the current state of the marine environment through photographs, words, and technical data;
  
  2) to analyze the information generated by MDAG and others to delineate current impacts and potential future impacts on the marine environment; and,
  
  3) to assist in the dissemination of marine-environment-related information through publications and meetings in order to facility understanding and cooperation.
  

    The Marine Documentation and Analysis Group (MDAG) grew from our sister organization, the Minesite Drainage Assessment Group, during the 1998 International Year of the Oceans.

    In keeping with our Commitments (above), MDAG has already carried out projects to document the state of reef and near-shore reef environments in Australia (primarily the Great Barrier Reef), Indonesia (East Kalimantan and Bali), Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Netherlands Antilles (Aruba and Bonaire), and the United States of America (Hawaii and the Florida Keys).  Occasional revisits to these sites will provide long-term documentation of conditions and changes.  MDAG is also conducting a near-continuous, ongoing project on the west side of the "Big Island" of Hawaii.
